    Join us every Saturday from 9 am to noon at the Permaculture Learning Garden. Tours and hands-on activitites available for all ages. Explore new and familiar varieties of edible and medicinal plants that are adapted to our dryland region. 

    Big Projects
    - build additional compartment onto existing compost bin
    - plant summer seeds
    - build pallet benches

    Little Projects 
    - add nitrogen (kitchen scraps, animal manure) to compost pile, turn, water throughout
    - water pomegranates, native flowers (penstemon, desert marigold, banana yucca, creosote), agave, aloe, nopal, mesquite
    - pick up trash

    Vistors are always welcome to enjoy a snack fresh-grown at the PLG under the shade.

    Water Expert Coming to Vegas to Change Conservation Conversation

    Great BasinPermaculture to host Brad Lancaster Downtown June 22

     

    WHAT:            A one-day seminar on the most important issue challenging our community’s vitality. Brad Lancaster, a leading authority in the water conservation movement, will teach Las Vegans how to achieve more with lessundefinedmoving the discussion beyond typical restrictions to topics such as rainwater harvesting, designing for resilience, earth work construction.

     

    WHEN:           Saturday, June 22

                            9 a.m. – Networking breakfast and registration

                            10 a.m.-5 p.m. – Presentations, breakout sessions, roundtable discussions. Lunch will be served

     

    WHERE:        Downtown Construction Zone

                            On 

    S. 7th St . , between Fremont St. and Carson Ave.

     

    WHY:              Finding new ways to live sustainably is an imperative to keeping our community healthy and strong. Recently, the Colorado River was named the most endangered in the country, and the Bureau of Reclamation recently released a report forecasting severe water loss due to climate change. This seminar will be packed with strategies attendees can implement immediately.

    Lancaster will teach specific pathways to resilience; for instance, how to use grey water for landscaping… and make it legalundefinedas it already is in our surrounding states!
